Burnett School of Biomedical Sciences
The school will help the UCF College of Medicine build a research intensive medical school where cutting edge medical research will span the entire spectrum from the laboratory bench to bedside of the patients, providing a great environment of training physicians and biomedical researchers.
The 198,000 square-feet five story Burnett Biomedical Sciences building with a major transgenic animal facility and Biosafety Level Three laboratories is expected to be completed by Spring 2009.
In addition, the school has formed active partnerships with other UCF units such as the College of Optics and Photonics and the Nanoscience Technology Center to build interdisciplinary research and education programs in the innovative applications of photonics and nanoscience to biomedical problems.

Biomedical
programs of study
Our
programs range from undergraduate
to Ph.D. and approach biomedical
education from an interdisciplinary
perspective:
- The
Molecular Biology
and Microbiology
B.S. programs prepare
students for
entry into professional
schools, graduate
school, and
the technical
work force
- The
Medical Laboratory
Sciences B.S. Program prepares
future medical laboratory
technologists
- The
Biotechnology B.S.
Program prepares
highly trained workers
to meet the needs of
the biotechnology
industry
- The
Molecular Biology and
Microbiology M.S. programs
prepare students for
professional careers
in medical fields,
higher education,
and
research
- The interdisciplinary Ph.D. program in Biomedical Sciences prepares tomorrow’s biomedical researchers for positions of leadership in academic, government and corporate environments
Also, our accelerated B.S./M.S., M.S./M.B.A., and Ph.D./M.B.A. programs in biotechnology prepares a skilled workforce for the emerging biotechnology industry.
